Varna Free University and Guilin University of Tourism Partnership, with Support from Asia Bulgaria Association
Varna Free University “Chernorizets Hrabar” and Guilin University of Tourism in China have signed a cooperation agreement that opens up new prospects for international academic mobility and innovations in education. The signing ceremony took place during a video conference, attended by Yani Yanev, Vice President of Varna Free University, and Professor Lin Chunyi, President of Guilin University of Tourism. The event also included leaders and representatives from both universities.
The agreement aims to promote the mobility of students and faculty and support international research and educational projects of global significance, particularly in the fields of international tourism, culture, and the arts. This partnership seeks to bridge the gap between Chinese and Bulgarian institutions, fostering educational cooperation and offering exciting new opportunities for students and faculty alike.
During the ceremony, Professor Lin Chunyi, President of Guilin University of Tourism, and Yani Yanev, Vice President of Varna Free University, presented the development trajectories of their respective institutions. Both expressed high praise for the collaboration project, highlighting the mutual benefits it would bring to both sides. They also reflected on the significance of 2024, marking the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Bulgaria. Bulgaria was the second country in the world to establish diplomatic relations with the People’s Republic of China, which makes this partnership even more meaningful.
Professor Lin Chunyi emphasized that this partnership with Varna Free University, one of Bulgaria’s largest private universities, is a critical step in implementing China’s national “Belt and Road Initiative” (BRI). The BRI is a global development strategy that seeks to foster international collaboration across various sectors. Lin Chunyi noted that this partnership would not only stimulate cooperation between China and Bulgaria but would also promote the broader development and strengthening of relationships between China and the rest of the world.
Through this collaboration, both universities aim to create a sustainable model for academic and cultural exchange that will enrich the educational and professional opportunities available to students and faculty from both countries.
