Evening News, October 24 – The China–Bulgaria Education and Culture Cooperation Alliance was officially established at Nantong University. Representatives from Bulgaria, including the Bulgarian National Education Foundation, Varna Free University, and the Asia Bulgaria Association of Culture, Sport and Tourism, as well as delegates from Nantong University, Shanghai Jianqiao University, China University of Geosciences, Suzhou University, and other Chinese and Bulgarian higher education institutions and organizations, attended the founding ceremony.
Bulgaria is one of the first Central and Eastern European countries to sign joint cooperation documents with China under the Belt and Road Initiative. Cooperation between the two countries in culture, education, and science has become deeply integrated, establishing a model for Sino-European cultural collaboration.
During the event, Eleonora Tankova, Vice Rector of Varna Free University, expressed her hope that the China–Bulgaria Education and Culture Cooperation Alliance would serve as an innovative platform for collaborative development in science, education, culture, and sustainable development, and jointly open a new chapter in China–Bulgaria educational cooperation.
At the Alliance’s first general assembly following its establishment, the members adopted the Charter of the China–Bulgaria Education and Culture Cooperation Alliance, elected the Alliance Presidium and Secretariat members, and inaugurated the China–Europe “Belt and Road” Art Research Institute. Subsequently, Nantong University, Guilin Tourism University, and Wuhan University of Arts and Science held cooperation meetings with Varna Free University, discussing joint initiatives under the China–Europe “Belt and Road” framework, high-level talent development, and scholar exchange programs.
