Strengthening Educational and Cultural Ties: Varna Free University’s Collaboration with Chinese Universities

Varna Free University and Nantong University Sign Cooperation Agreement

Varna Free University “Chernorizets Hrabar” has taken another important step in expanding its international partnerships by signing a cooperation agreement with Nantong University in China. As part of this collaboration, the first group of PhD and Master’s students has already been successfully admitted.

Varna Free University is actively developing partnerships with other leading Chinese universities in the fields of education, culture, and tourism, expanding opportunities for students and faculty alike. Among its growing network of partners are institutions from the provinces of Guangxi, Hebei, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Henan.

A Center for Admission and Exchange in China

In celebration of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and China, Varna Free University expressed its strong commitment to the establishment of a Center for Admission and Exchange for Cooperation in China.

The Center will be led by Professors Yang Min, Sara Luo, Eva Chen Han Jun, and UnisFuture, who are authorized to represent the university in building partnerships, attracting students, and facilitating cultural and educational exchanges across China.

Mission and Goals of the Center

The Center for Admission and Exchange for Cooperation will serve as a dynamic platform for:

  • Promoting educational collaboration and international study opportunities.

  • Supporting academic partnerships and faculty exchanges.

  • Encouraging student mobility between Bulgaria and China.

  • Stimulating joint research projects with leading Chinese universities.

Beyond academic collaboration, the Center aims to foster friendship, mutual understanding, and cultural dialogue between the two nations — strengthening the human and institutional connections that drive innovation and shared growth.

The Alliance for Educational and Cultural Cooperation

At the initiative of Professor Yang Min, Varna Free University, in partnership with several Chinese institutions — including Nantong University and Guilin University of Tourism — is working to establish a China–Bulgaria Alliance for Educational and Cultural Cooperation.

The creation of this Alliance will be one of the key events marking the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and China. It represents a shared vision of closer collaboration, academic exchange, and cultural enrichment.

The initiators hope that more Chinese and Bulgarian universities will join this growing network, opening new opportunities for students, researchers, and educators to share knowledge and experiences — contributing to the educational and cultural development of both countries.

Education4Everybody: A Bridge Between Continents

The organization Education4Everybody has played a key role in supporting this partnership. By assisting in the creation of the Center for Admission and Exchange and helping to form the Alliance for Educational and Cultural Cooperation, Education4Everybody has been instrumental in strengthening academic links, promoting cross-cultural understanding, and advancing sustainable educational opportunities for students from Bulgaria and China.
